## Introduction

Specifies the width of an element.

By default, this property determines the width of the `content area`, but if `box-sizing` is set to `border-box`, this property will determine the width of the `border area`.

### Value

- `auto`

The width of the container will be determined by the total width of its content.

- `<length>`

Defines the width as an absolute value.

- `<percentage>`

Defines the width as a percentage relative to the width of the containing block.
